Which is comparatively easier to improve: SAT or ACT?

Given a situation that I have 2 equal chances of improving both, which one should I strive upon?

Difficulties I face in:

  1. ACT
  • Time management for reading
  1. SAT
    -The CR section

Though I scored better on real practice tests for the English section in both, I ended up with lower than expected scores. Any help with that as well.

Any use of smart prep technique with books and should I buy any other book other than the ones I have.

  1. ACT
    -Real practice tests
  • How to writer a killer ACT essay
  • The ultimate guide for ACT Math
  • The black book
  1. SAT
    -Real practice tests

It depends. I think I do better on the SAT because I’m not as good at managing my time, as the ACT’s time constraints are much stricter.

What is your ACT and SAT score?

ACT: 27
SAT: 1810

Your SAT and ACT score are pretty much the same. This is my personal opinion, but the ACT reading is significantly easier than the SAT reading comprehension. I suggest that you get Barron’s ACT 36 and use that for time management skills. I would also suggest that you get the Real ACT Prep Guide, and use it for practice tests, as they all come from real ACT tests.

Sounds like you just need to pick one and go with it. Flip a coin.

Yeah agree with @bben15 that both of your scores on the ACT and SAT are similar. In which test do you feel comfortable?
The reading of the ACT is easier than the SAT if you got low score in CR. Are you a junior?

I’m aiming for the ACT but people have recommended that I should aim for the SAT as score can be easily improved.

Yeah, you have similar scores on both tests, but you decide which will be easy for you to increase. You took both tests. Which did you feel easier?

My son had the same issues on the ACT and SAT reading. I found the SAT Black Book to be really great for the SAT reading. He ultimately took the ACT and used the ACT watch for time management. Also, if you decide on the ACT, the passage types are in the same order every time. If you have one type of passage which gives you trouble and takes a bit longer (for my son it was the first), do it last. If you need to guess at least it will be on your relatively weak section and you will have done the easier (for you) questions. Seriously think about the watch.

I felt the SAT was a hectic test. Too Long.
I’ll go for the ACT. I have 10 more real tests available. For the SAT I’m down to 0.
Any advice on the new essay starting this Fall?
@baxter I’ll look into the watch. Thanks
