I got the following SAT score in May: 700 CR, 740 M, 800 W (with 12 on essay). Since both schools value stats such as ECs, essays, and GPA about the same, I’m wondering if I will have a better chance at Penn than Cornell since the latter disregards the writing component of the SAT. Any thoughts?

Who knows? And even if you know the answer, will that affect where/how you apply?

You can always retake the SAT and try to do better in CR/Math (especially if you haven’t utilized Direct Hits). Apply to the school that you want to go to though, there’s always RD if you don’t get in.

I guess it wouldn’t really affect my application decision, but I am just a little curious. ;)

I don’t think your 2240 will make or break your application. It’s not stellar, but it’s not that low. As long as you’re on par with the other applicants in other areas, you stand a chance for both Penn and Cornell. Apply to the one you like more, or you can even apply to both if you’re going RD. Good luck!
