Which is Least Cliche?

I am having trouble starting an essay about my most meaningful activity. Which is least cliche/will catch the reader’s attention more: Winning “the big game” and reflecting on the past 4 years (not for a sport), or my first day in the activity and then an overview of how it shaped me these past four years? I have an easier time starting the first one, but feel that neither is too original. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think the problem is that you are trying to scope a long period of time in 500 words. It’s VERY hard to create a good image of 4 years in that small of space, and it will often be very general and cliche. I think if you can specifically go on one instant, like winning “the big game” and thats it, then you should be fine. Though “winning that game” is a bit overused, if you make it your own and put feeling into it and show/ not tell the story, you’d be fine.

I have 1600 characters and want to be original. This is not going to be fun.

haha, ye, it isnt gonna be fun …

Focus on one central theme that connects your four years with that sport.
