Which junior schedule is more rigorous?

Junior #1-
AP Biology
AP Spanish
AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology
AP Statistics
AP US Government
Honors US History
Honors English 11

Extracurriculars: Girls Scouts, National Honor Society member

Junior #2-
AP Biology
AP Calculus BC
AP Psychology
AP US Government
Honors US History
Honors English 11
Gym
Health

Extracurriculars: Baking for the Homeless member, Chess Club, Editor of School Newspaper, National Honors Society member, FBLA member

How about:
AP Biology
AP Calculus BC
AP US Government
AP Spanish
AP Statistics
Honors US History
Honors English 11
Gym

Extracurriculars: Baking for the Homeless member, Chess Club, Editor of School Newspaper, National Honors Society member, FBLA

I don’t know if that is the most “rigorous,” but I think it looks the best.
Why are you taking gov and US history the same year? o_O
Btw- have you ever taken an AP class before? Just make sure that you know what you’re signing up for before you make the decision (grades, hw, etc-wise). I highly suggest that you talk to upperclassmen to find out how much work each class is.

Are these two different people, or your projected next year schedules?

By schedules alone, the first is a bit more rigorous; though BC is more rigorous than Stats, AP Spanish and AP Environmental Science are far more rigorous than Gym and Health. However, the 2nd one’s extracurriculars seem a bit more impressive (however, depends on each person’s involvement in each activity), so I’d say, on the whole, they’re around the same? Maybe #1 by the slightest bit?

Calculus BC is much more useful than Statistics as far as AP courses and tests go, regardless of how you select the others.

Calculus BC is probably the most useful AP test no matter where you go; Statistics is probably one of the least useful AP tests.

I don’t know how the system in your school works, but AP Government would be taken your senior year. Your list is compared to what I had last year, and everyday was a headache. Even though both are rigorous, see if you can ACTUALLY handle them all.

It’s difficult to say. The first one has a rigorous schedule, with all the AP classes. The second one has more extra curriculars. It does depend on what role you play in the club. If you hold no position and are just classified as a member, then I would suggest #1. If you actually hold positions such as treasurer, vice president, president, then you should probably take #2.

Word of advice: don’t drop Spanish.

If you take these (your repeats and Spanish because you really should for colleges)
AP Biology
AP Spanish
AP Psychology
AP US Government
Honors English 11
Honors US History

I would also take Calc BC. If not that, of course take Stat because you need the math. If you have the option to add on those extracurriculars (esp. editor of the newspaper, I wouldn’t give that up)

As far as rigor, that’s how I see it. But do what you want to do. Switching a couple of electives here and there isn’t going to mean anything to colleges as long as you keep your core subjects.
