I spent 2 years at a University- first in a pre-med program, then I Was accepted to an ASL Program. But I was also accepted to a musical theatre summer conservatory and after the 3 weeks there I realized how much I missed performing and really wanted to do it. I took a semester off to think about it more, work & save some money and look at some schools to audition but I’m very torn- what should I do? I know many working performers now- famous and under the radar either have no degree in musical theatre or have more than one degree, in something like English or history as well as music or musical theatre. I do enjoy ASL I’m just not sure which I should pursue first- if I should pursue my dream now or get the “reasonable”/back up degree now but be really old when I finish and continue my theatre training. I can still minor in music and continue dance classes but still, the idea of being ~24 if if I were to do that second degree is a little daunting. I would want to be in NYC auditioning by then.
My mind changes everyday- if someone who has done both (Like Kate Burton- she has her BA in like history and her MFA in Acting_ could give me any suggestions and insight, I’d appreciate it.
