I am a parent of the future international undergraduate student. My son wants to dive into analysis. B Please help me - is it easier for him to get accepted to business major or mathematics/statistics major? He has good math skills, and his SAT is 1400 with math score 800.
Thank you.
That would really depend on the university. You can google to see if they have separated the admission percentage for the different colleges or majors within the university.
What do you mean by “analysis”? That commonly describes intermediate to advanced level undergraduate math courses with emphasis on proofs, but could also mean other things. If math topics like real analysis and complex analysis are his interest, then a major in math, not business, is the most suitable choice for him.
Or if he has a goal of being a financial analyst, maybe business school is the way to go.
It appears OP is asking which major makes it easier to get into a university, not which is a better fit.
So I think the answer is – as Erin’s dad pointed out – depends on the school.
And at many of them it doesn’t make it “easier” one way or another.
