I am currently pursuing a degree in electronic technology but am also interested in cars and how they function. (automotive technology). Even if I switch next semester it won’t affect me because the same classes that I am taking now are required for automotive as well. In your opinion which one would you think would have a better career? Thanks.

I think electronic technology. I don’t know much about either one (they almost sound like vocational degrees) but I do know that electrical engineers can get jobs anywhere, including at automobile manufacturers and whatnot. I figure an electronic technology degree would be similarly versatile.

Honestly I don’t know how valuable an electronics technology degree is. It’s not the same as an electrical engineering degree.

My instinct says the automotive program has better career prospects.

Which do you like better? Start with that. Where do you see yourself in five years? Think about the lifestyle you want, and what kind of career that might entail. Which major most closely matches what you want to do?

Electronic technology. Though honestly, as long as you have a degree, you can pursue any field. Get your degree, get experience, and start working. People study in college and get their degrees and then succeed in careers that have absolutely nothing to do with their degrees lol. Just study and do what you enjoy and are good at.
