<p>While not optional, many MT programs do not really consider SAT scores, so it doesn’t matter that they are “average.” Check, though–while CMU places little value on the scores, at Michigan you must first get into the university, and those scores do count in that evaluation. Also, SAT scores may be a factor in scholarship money, much of which is based on academic indicators.</p>
<p>Just to be clear, at U of Michigan, you do not first get into the university. Rather, you go through an academic review in order to be invited to audition. It is like a screening (kinda like if you are in the ballpark academically to be considered for admission). It is not an acceptance to the university.</p>
