<p>safety as in i have enough guaranteed merit aid there that i could actually afford to go… but most of them (probably all) are relatively unknown and not the best quality probably, though i still know i can get a good education most places. but which of these is the best in your opinion and whyyy? <p>If I remember correctly, you have the stats to get large merit at better schools than these. Many/most of these schools are commute/suitcase, and you’re from Calif (if I remember). </p>
<p>Are you the student who won’t qualify for any aid, but your parents won’t pay anything towards college? Are you sure that they won’t pay one dime? Or will they pay a couple thou or so? </p>

<p>I think you should test again…and study a bit first. I remember that your the one whose parents don’t want you to test again. However, your parents aren’t being reasonable. They really can’t have it both ways. They can’t expect you to pay for all of college yourself, and also tell you not to test again. That’s nutty. Find a way to pay for an Oct SAT test and retake that test…and practice first.</p>
<p>I would recommend Louisiana Tech and Newberry College from that list. Louisiana Tech would give you more of the state school / research university atmosphere, whereas Newberry is a small LAC.</p>
<p>However, with your stats I hope you will also be applying to schools where you can try for competitive merit awards. For instance, if Newberry is appealing, your school should be nominating you for Wofford Scholars right now. Wofford is a similar location and atmosphere to Newberry, but is likely superior to Newberry in most respects.</p>
<p>i’m definitely going to apply to some way better schools but i want just one of these because i’d prefer any of them to staying at home and going to community college… but if i went to any of these it would be the last choice. just in case! i don’t know if they will pay any or not probably will end up paying a little but they currently pay for my sister and i to go to private school and already have enough debt from that… i do however have 1/2 can’t remember thousand in a college fund lol. </p>
<p>and mom2collegekids i believe i told you i wanted to do engineering possibly too, and that’s still always a possibility i suppose, but honestly i just feel in a way obligated and expected to do that and am leaning more towards what i said on this thread. i truly am undecided for now though</p>

which offer engineering are University of Alabama - Huntsville (where you miss the full ride by 10 SAT CR+M points; your scores get the full tuition), Louisiana Tech, Prairie View A&M, and Howard.</p>
