Which one is better? (27 ACT or 1900 SAT highest combined)

I got

24 english 36 math 20 reading 27 science 9 essay

on Dec ACT

and

540 reading 730 math 560 writing (7 essay)

on Oct SAT

and

490 reading 800 math 560 writing (9 essay)

on Dec SAT

=> thus 1900 highest combined on SAT.

I have to send either one to SUNY Stony Brook (and maybe Purdue), but I don’t know which one is better to send.

most uneven scores i’ve ever seen

^That’s true. :)

Your 1340 (best combined math and reading) correlates to a 30 ACT…So DO NOT SEND your ACT score of 27 (it is the equivalent of a 1220 SAT).
Send only your SAT scores.

Clearly you are gifted in math as indicated by your scores of 800 SAT and 36 ACT. Wre you born and raised in the USA, or in a non-English based locale?

If you are an International student, then one summer school session immersed in the English language and American culture will dramatically improve the verbal and reading scores.

For what it’s worth, it won’t matter… we only look at the highest scores. Even if you’ve taken both test five times each, we take the highest CR, the highest Math, and the highest ACT composite. The rest are just filed and ignored.

@ sbuadmissions,

It is good to hear a little sanity on these boards.

That is exactly what I write, but it gets dismissed b/c I dont work in Admissions, anymore.

Thank you for giving the official prespective. Please continue posting, a little sanity is needed on these boards.

Sometimes I repeat myself.

Sometimes I repeat myself. Sorry about that.

If I’m the bastion of sanity around here, I fear for all of you. :)
