Which one is better for UnderGrad Aerospace Engineering Embry Riddle / Virginia Tech / Penn State

My son is an OOS student and going for Aerospace Engineering Undergrad course. Few colleges accepted like Embry Riddle, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Ohio SU, Rutgers, WPI, NC SU.

Need information about ERAU.

College fees wise I think most of the colleges are same for OOS except ERAU given 22k merit scholarship.

Any suggestions to choose between above colleges?

Of the schools you named, Embry–Riddle is, I believe, the most recognized for aerospace engineering.

ERAU is the kind of school - what they told us - when a plane is flying overhead at the Daytona Beach Airport (assuming the Dayton campus), everyone looks up.

It’s all aerospace.

it’s small…so different than the others.

You need to check it out.

You need go visit schools.

Some will have secondary admission - meaning you’re not assured your major. And campuses are different - NC State is detached from the main campus, for example…a short walk or bus ride.

Great admits.

Best of luck.

What they said! Totally on point!

Does your son want a large university or a smaller one?
Does he want everyone around him to have the same major/type of major as his or would he prefer being surrounded by people with a wide variety of majors?
How important are hands on activities and projects?
If you calculate (tuition fees room board)-(grants, scholarships) what’s the result for each (so that we can estimate value for money).
Do you have a budget and does your sob have preferences?

There is a lot of computer science and cyber security at ERAU. It is fun when rockets go off, and they really do go off all the time. It is also fun to see people you know on the NASA channel for launches because they are interning for SpaceX.

Daytona beach has a lot more going on in the area than many of the others you named, even if the school itself is smaller. There are all the events at the racetrack, all the space related stuff, Orlando, the beach. It’s very easy to get to. There are a ton of places to do internships or co-ops because all the major aerospace companies have offices up and down the Space Coast. NASA is there, Northrup, SpaceX but also little companies you’ve never heard of that may make a piece necessary for a launch. Sometimes they let the students use their maker space too.

There are concerts and events in Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale. You can get to Tampa in about 2 hours (if you can get through Orlando traffic).
