I am confused, as the website does not show that I missed mid-year report; did your guys
got some emails like mine ?

As this cycle of admissions moves toward closure, you can expect cryptic emails, queries regarding stuff that you sent and so forth.

Why?

Things get lost

Folks doing the work are human

Sometimes it is easier to send a broadcast reminder to everyone regarding things to be done.

The good news is that they won’t hold you responsible for things out of your control. For example, if a teacher rec is missing they’ll hold the review of your file, but they won’t hold it against you as long as you act quickly.

When my D applied a few years back, we had some mixups. We found that if one of us called, there were actually real humans on the other end, although sometimes it was hard to get ahold of them.

Do keep in mind too that email is NOT the best way to handle significant problems, for several reasons: email overload; no opportunity for nuance or discussion; missing the human element.

I realize that many applicants in recent years don’t even know we have something called the telephone. But give it a try. So many professionals these days are so busy answering emails that they never use the phone. So they can be easy to reach.

D was accepted EA; newmassdad is right – use the phone. It took several calls to track down missing transcripts, letters, etc., before the deadline last fall, but the office staff was great, and even called us back to confirm what they’d found. They may be even busier now, but when we called we found them very helpful.
