I’m a parent and my girl doesn’t want to go far from home, as in ten minutes.

But aside from that which is most enriching experience and has best payback in career (these are her list, all fairly close to our home)?

Lehigh - Close to home.
Cooper Union - NYC experience and challenging
U of Penn - IVY
Penn State Shreyers Honors College - Opportunities of large campus and room and board/free overseas service trips or DC interns in summers

1) Cooper Union
2) Penn
3) Lehigh
4) Penn State

Cooper Union has a difficult integrated engineering curriculum. It’s also tuition free. Good luck getting in as it accepts only 6% of applicants.

If D is interested in civil engineering, Penn has none.

Lehigh is an excellent engineering school. Though perhaps not comparable to Penn or Cooper Union, it would be a great choice especially if she doesn’t want to leave the area.

Lafayette would also be close to home and Bucknell is not too far away.
Not so close but great or very good engineering - Cornell, CMU, Case Western, U. Rochester, Union, RPI, Villanova. Could also consider - RIT, Syracuse, Binghamton
