which phones work best in dorms or boelter?

iphone, bb?

also for triples which stuff take and avoid for dykstra.
for the nine months how expensive can it get even with cafetaria food
i.e LA is expensive so any extra $ planning required for example traveling to interviews or jobs?

Carrier matters more than phone manufacturer. Verizon probably gets the best signal strength here, though AT&T has improved since they installed the extra tower around here.

I never lived in a hall, so maybe someone else can answer this.

Depends on you. You should probably be prepared to set aside as much as $500 on external expenses. Don’t expect to spend anything on interviews (unless you need to buy a shirt and tie or something). I’m assuming you’re an engineer (since you post in that thread) and in that case companies usually come to visit on-campus, or will cover your travel expenses.

thanks grapesoda,

booking my tickets for spring and was wondering whether i should come back to school on march 28th of april 1st? also I would book the last day of the final examinations to depart even though my finals for the quarter could get done earlier.

Things I wish I had brought to the dorms:
Silverware, plates, more school supplies (planned on buying them here but they’re so damn expensive at the UCLA store)
Things I wish I didn’t bring:
Printer, extra books, DVD collection, so many clothes
Things I recommend bringing that made my life easier:
Your own fridge/microwave

As for carrier, I have AT&T and it works great in the dorms, especially since the new tower. I often have better coverage than Verizon and from what I hear a lot of the smaller carriers suck.

I have AT&T and get no service below the 5th floor of Boelter.

The date you come back from spring break doesn’t really matter. However, keep in mind that dining halls are closed during the break, so if you come back early, you would have to eat elsewhere.
