Out of SSP, NYSCamp, UCD YSP, CMU SAMS, and HSHSP, what would you chose based on prestige?
Have you been offered spots in every single one of those?
I would not pick a summer program based on prestige. You should instead think about which program makes more sense for you.
You also might want to read the “applying sideways” blog on the MIT admissions web site.
I have been admitted to 4 of them
Congratulations!
How do you feel about them? Which one do you think is likely to be interesting to you?
I was under the impression neither SSP nor HSHSP has released results yet. Am I wrong?
Agree with Dad that you need to deep dive into what you would be doing at each of these programs and what sounds most interesting & excites you. Follow your passions, where are you most likely to be inspired, excited, and happy?
Thank you!! I feel the most interested in HSHSP, then followed by SSP. I did a research project already, which is why HSHSP might be a less important experience for me compared to SSP. I like both and would be happy picking either one, which is why I want to choose one based off of prestige.
You are not wrong, they have both not released results. But I had an extenuating circumstance and emailed for an early decision. However, don’t take this for granted and start emailing them. I heard they are declining early decision now.
If HSHSP interests you most, then go that route. You cannot go wrong with any of these programs.
That being said, if you’re truly hung up on prestige then SSP would probably be the winner based on the court of public opinion on public forums and the forbes article below. I am not an AO.
I maintain you should choose whichever program sounds most interesting and any of these will get the job done (assuming you’re looking for an admissions boost if you’re asking nabout prestige.) I do know students who went to HSHSP and were admitted to HYPSMC. Just a slightly heavier showing for SSP, (look on insta “ssp23decisions” to see where SSP kids end up.) and I think SSP is more for experienced researchers while HSHSP is perhaps for those with less experience.
SSP is taking in 400+ students this year. Will it be still remain prestigious?
re-iterating: you cannot go wrong with any of these programs; go to whichever one sounds most interesting/exciting to you. And re-read the MIT blog link Dad posted above called “applying sideways”
Just do the one that you have the most interest in. Nothing else matters.
