Which programs most surprised you or impressed you?

We received email from SU as well and equally as impressed as everyone else that they would take the time to do that!

I don’t have a child at UK but do know the program. Recent students have or are performing in Porgy and Bess, and Cinderella in NYC/Broadway in the last couple of years. Another recently finished a national tour of Titanic. And I’m sure there others I’m unaware of. UK also had their men’s acapaella group, the Acoustikats, which did well on NBC’s The Sing Off. Obviously with the MT certificate program just starting, there is no track record there. But I think if you research the voice program you will find it has a sterling reputation and impressive graduates. I do agree that performance credentials don’t necessarily translate into good teaching. But their students are doing well after graduation. And their contacts are invaluable. Those particular people (met singers) are part of the opera program. The MT instructors both were on Broadway for a number of years and are now sought after consultanta with places like Music Theatre of Wichita and University of Michigan to ma,e q few. They were even able to bring Jonathan Groff in to work with the UK students on their production of Spring Awakening. I would certainly not put UKs certificate program in a league with proven programs often discussed on CC. - but it may be an interesting option for some.
