Which prompt should I write about?

Hi guys. I’ve narrowed the selection down to prompt #1 and #3
The story I’d like to write about in prompt 1 is when in late 2012, I was in the hospital, barely holding on to life when I met an 8 year old girl (fellow patient) with kidney failure and how she influenced me.
For prompt 3, I’d like to write about how as Muslim teen, I started questioning my religion because I had never read the Quran (in English) and like me, everyone else read it in Arabic even if they didn’t know Arabic and how I questioned its truthfulness because sheer dumb faith didn’t make any sense to me.

Which of them would be an essay that would leap out of the application for the committee… (quoting my counsellor :D)

BUMP…10char

You can write a great essay about any topic. You can also write a bad essay about any topic. Much depends on what you write and how you say it. You’ll never know which topic will be better until you write each essay. So, start writing and see which topic you like the best after you have two polished essays. Before you start though, please read this: [How To Write A College Essay | MIT Admissions](How To Write A College Essay | MIT Admissions)

That is great advice! Seriously, let the drafting begin…

It honestly depends. You’ve told us your topics, but your descriptions seem a bit vague to me.

How did she influence you? What would you talk about?
The pitfall to avoid with essays about influence (which can be avoided, but it depends on how you planned to write your essay) is that you need to remember to keep the essay focused on you and not your admiration about the girl. I don’t think that’ll be a problem with this, but you’re going to have to give more details.

Again, how is this going to relate back to you? What’s your theme here? What are you trying to say about yourself?

The question is, what are you trying to highlight about yourself in each of these essays? It’s hard to choose one without knowing much about them.

Got it…
Thanks for the info. I definitely see you the info i’ve given here is insufficient. They definitely relate to me but as you pointed out, I haven’t related them to myself in my post.
Drafting them both currently. Will work on the one that seems better to me after the initial draft.
