Which reach school to apply to? W&M or UPENN?

Hi, I’m a rising senior looking into studying Accounting/Actuarial Science. I’m applying to about 3/4 schools here in Illinois that I’m fairly certain I will get into. However, I wanted to try applying to some reach schools, as well. I’m not as smart as a bunch of people I see here on this forum, I got a 28 on the ACT, but I have a bunch of extracurricular activities.
Basically, I’m looking at applying between these 2 reach schools: WILLIAM & MARY or UPENN WHARTON.

I’m not sure which to apply to; i dont want to apply to both, because the application fee is pretty expensive, and I’m thinking of just applying ED to 1 of them. Which do you think is the best one to apply to?
I know for W&M students have to apply to the Business school before junior year. What are the stats of students who get in, and how difficult is it to really get into?

without a hook, a 28 is not very competitive for Penn. Try W&M.

I don’t know anything about UPenn, but I do love W&M. I don’t go there but I have friends who do, and they’re amazing people. The campus is beautiful and I love just walking around and hanging out. I’m sure either school is great but you should seriously visit W&M if you haven’t already. See if you get the same great vibe.

Lets just say your ACT falls at the 25%ile level for W&M and for UPenn it’s below that. If you have any shot it will be at W&M.

W&M will be a big reach.

Both are out of reach. Penn 100% is out of reach, W&M most likely is as well. Might want to either raise the scores or pick new reaches.

alright, well for different reaches, which other schools do you think would be a good match? I kind of want to look for smaller schools but with great recruitment and a great education. What kinds of business schools are there that match that? U of I is a school I’m applying to, and I know the recruitment is amazing there, but it’s also a HUGE school. I wanted to search for a few that were smaller.

U. Richmond? Small school, with a well-regarded undergraduate business school. Not as selective as Penn or W&M.

alright, thanks! i looked into the school! is it well known in regards to recruitment compared to University of Illinois Champaign, which is the other school I’m applying to? Also, do you think Notre Dame could be a reach school for me? What other reach schools that are well regarded in accounting near to the Midwest?

More of a match, U of Dayton.
