My understanding is that some (all?) subjects are covered differently in US/AP curriculum vs. the IB curriculum. So what are the best subjects to take to minimize self-studying those portions that are not covered in the IB? The choice for my daughter would be among English, Math, Biology (which one to pick, M or E ??), Chemistry and Spanish. Her school indicated that students tend to do well on language tests since their foreign languages department is strong. I assume the timing of tests should be the end of the junior year, although it’s not ideal with mock IB exams at the same time. If anyone did it at a different time, I would like to hear about other options. Thanks!!

I think that the foreign language would be a VERY good one to take b/c usually for IB, students are in their 4th or 5th year of learning the language by their junior yr. For IB Chemistry or IB Biology, if either one is a TWO-year course, I suggest taking the SAT II in November of December of the senior yr. The SAT IIs for science can be a little challenging if you havent learned every concept that is tested. Math = depends on whether the student is naturally good at math. This can be studied for, but this takes a lot of time/effort. IB Math SL 1 fits nicely with SAT Math IIC, except for the calculus portion. so there shouldnt be a problem.

good luck!

I am taking language, Math 2, and Physics next june. Physics doesnt count cuz i m taking AP physics.
