I’m not entirely sure that this forum is the best spot to post this (then again, I’ve been a member of this site for all of 15 minutes, so there’s that). I have taken the SAT 3 times: in November 2011 (to qualify for the SET program run by Johns Hopkins), and then Decmeber 2014, and May 2015. My scores from those three tests are (drum roll please):
2011: 670 writing, 680 math, 730 reading, 2080 total
2014: 740 writing, 700 math, 700 reading. 2140 total,
2015: 760 writing, 760 math, 680 reading, 2200 total.
Many of the colleges I’m looking at (Florida state schools like UF, FSU, and New College of Florida) will superscore my results (take the top score in each section and use that to calculate my total score).
The problem I have lies in the fact that while my math and writing scores have steadily increased by nearly 100 points each since I was in 8th grade, my reading score has done the exact opposite.
I don’t know how colleges will see my scores. Will they think that I have some remarkable abilities to achieve such strong results at a young age, abilities which would do well at their college or university? Or will they see my 2011 score as evidence of a lack of growth (or worse yet, a gradual weakening of reading abilities), which could potentially hurt my chances of admissions?
If I send all my scores, the superscore is 2250 (730 reading, 760 math, 760 writing). If I just send the two from my junior year, the superscore is 2220 (700 reading, 760 math, 760 writing).
It’s also worth mentioning that I got a 34 on the ACT. Should I send that as well (or in place of the SAT score)?
The main question: Which set of scores should I send?
