I’m a junior at a small high school (just under 1000 students), and, in my opinion, its academics are usually poor quality. Despite this, my ACT score has been a 34 for both times I’ve taken it. I would like to know what college admissions officers think of my situation when compared to a student at a large high school that has very good academics, teachers, etc., who gets the same or similar score. Do colleges typically regard the student at the “better” school more highly than the other student, or is it the opposite? Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, just trying to get some answers.
Really depends on the college. I know Georgia Tech accepted 5 students from my school early action and 1 regular decision (we have a class of 1,000 seniors) while I have a friend who’s school isn’t as good or big as ours who only had 1 student accepted at all. where are you planning on going?
I know some really selective colleges look at how a student does at a really competitive and strong high school. It shows how well you do in a competitive environment & such.
