Which School Has The Best Accounting Degree?

Baruch College

NYU Polytech

Fordham

How would you rank the order of how prestigious an Accounting degree from each school would be. Is an Accounting degree from Stern better than an Accounting degree from Baruch?

I know I am off-topic, but Claremont McKenna has an excellent economics-accounting program. Its a terrific mix of economics and accounting courses. Many students go on to work at Big 4 accounting firms as well as investment banks and financial services firms.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I forgot to mention that I am focusing on going to college in New York City.

Its sort of the wrong question. Accountants take a national exam to get licensed. A lot of accountants get their Masters in Accounting even before taking the exam. Or an MBA with an accounting/finance specialization.

Comparing Fordham and NYU is a bit of apples and oranges in that the experience is different…Fordham is a liberal arts college with a very good business college on campus. Fordham students get a very well regarded and well rounded Jesuit influenced education, plus sports, a gorgeous campus and a typical college experience, while being in New York. NYU Stern speaks for itself…its a powerful degree, but specialized and in Greenwich Village, an urban setting. NYU is a huge school.

So it really depends on what YOU are looking for in a college experience. Both NYU and Fordham offer outstanding business connections and contacts in business and communications/media in Manhattan.

There are a huge number of NYU PhD’s on Fordham faculty. One of NYU’s Presidents was a Fordham alumnus.

I can’t speak about Baruch College, sorry.

NYU is higher ranking, to be sure. But that is only a superficial factor. It really comes down to what you want out of a school and the overall experience. Some kids prefer NYU and some prefer Fordham and its gothic campus.
