UC Berkeley or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo?

Anthropology is generally not a hard major to get into at most universities. There’s usually not very many pre-reqs (physical, cultural, and archaeology usually). Finish all those pre-reqs and maintain a decent GPA and you should be okay for Cal.

I’ve heard stories of people who have degrees from Cal or UCLA and still can’t find a job. Learn how to work your degree, be it from CSUMB or UC Berkeley and you’ll be fine. Overall, yeah a degree from UC Berkeley is going to “look good” I guess.

Berkeley is more world renowned. Cal Poly SLO is a good choice if you want to stay in CA and are entering into engineering, an ag based major, architecture, or animal science. Arguably, Berkeley might even be better for say engineering.

Try to post all of your questions on one thread next time please.

Ok I will. Thanks for the reply, this really helped. Are you a student a CAL yourself?

Is this a serious question?

^Hahahahhaa

UC Berkeley is well known and highly regarded not only in California but anywhere in the nation. While Cal Poly SLO has a very strong reputation in California, on the East Coast people would just think of it as another public university in California, like UC Irvine or Cal State Fresno.

More than that, Berkeley is a worldwide name. SLO has barely anything going for it outside of CA. It’s not even on the worldwide radar.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo most definitely

UC Berkeley is. I don’t think Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is even heard of outside of California.

^ I’m from CA and Ive never even heard of it lol

^ Which cave?

All CalPoly SLO has going for it is its engineering program (which i think allows you to get a masters in 5 years and provides a ton of hands on experience) but UC Berkeley has one of the best engineering programs in the nations, so with that, UCB no doubt.

briceies you’re the one from the cave!! Only a person from a cave would think of Cal Poly and “world renown” in the same sentence :rolleyes:

I’m an Engineering major and wouldn’t go to that overhyped and “bloated-ego” school for technicians, even if they gave me tuition for free! I’d go to UC Davis or Irvine …or even Cal State Long Beach (since it’s closer to where I live), before I went to that place with people walking around with chips on their shoulder, like they’re something super special :rolleyes:

…OK, maybe I was a little harsh in my description, but what I’m trying to say is that Cal Poly-SLO is NOTHING SPECIAL. It has a fairly good engineering program (maybe slightly better than a place like CSULB), and THAT’S IT …nothing more. And it may get you a little ahead (if you’re an engineering major) compared to other Cal States and low-tier UCs in California …outside the state it offers no special advantage whatsoever!

^Ouch, kinda harsh. No need to bash another school…“nothing special”?

Shots fired from victor5555, SHOTS FIRED!

No one’s heard of Cal Poly outside of CA, everyone’s heard of Berkeley. Most people in CA haven’t even heard of Cal Poly. College kids yes, average person no. Question is silly.

@victor5555

From the sound of your bashing, were you rejected from Cal Poly multiple times and decided to pick up pieces of your life by attending a nearby junior college?

Talk about a chip on your shoulder…

@victor5555

yo, I think you misunderstood me. Keely, above me, said she’s never even heard of Cal Poly, and that she’s from CA. So I asked “Which cave?” That is, which cave has she been living in her whole life that she hasn’t heard of Cal Poly, because – and don’t you deny it, ye heathen – it’s a very respectable school.

■■■■■. good joke OP, good joke.

UCB. why argue this??
