Which schools beat SUNY Stony Brook for Computer Science?

What are the sources of your information? There are dozens of colleges in the SUNY system. How do you keep updated on all of them? Your assertions about the conditions of the campuses aren’t true of our local SUNY and I suspect you’re incorrect about others as well.

I’ve read your posts about the SUNY system and I think your understanding about the origins of the system (as explained in the thread, “Why Pick an OOS school”) are fundamentally inaccurate. In my opinion, declaring yourself an expert on our colleges doesn’t make you one. If you posted citations along with your assertions I might view them differently, but as it stands I regard them as well intended opinion pieces.

austinmshauri you are more than welcome to read my posts as you choose. I have posted tons of references and I am not writing a dissertation here. If you are interested in SUNY however, you can spend 45 years at SUNY. Alternatively, you can read.

To understand context read primary sources about Owen Young and his efforts, read "“Meeting the Increased Demand for Education in New York State” , which was the report from the Heald Committee. You can certainly get the PR SUNY perspective from “SUNY at 60”, edited by John B. Clark, W.Bruce Leslie and Kenneth P O’Brien. I also suggest reading Roger Geiger’s volume entitled “the History Of American Higher Education”. Then, you may want to search the NY times archives for the early articles on Young’s commission. Also read about Dewey’s reaction to the private school presidents opposition to SUNY.

Once you’ve read these, let me know and I’ll suggest other resources for you.

I don’t need to make any assertions. But before you do, please read the material I suggest.
