And why did you choose to come here over those schools?

I turned down Vanderbilt, WashU, Cornell, and UCLA for Berkeley.

The location, atmosphere, prestige, name recognition, and strength in literally every single major made my decision relatively easy. I grew up in Norcal and want to work in California after graduation so going to St. Louis/Ithaca/Nashville wouldn’t have made much sense. Cal was also slightly cheaper than all of my other options (except for UCLA).

It also feels good to be treated like a god by all of your Asian relatives when they hear you’re going to Berkeley.
