<p>Many colleges have a theater major, but I had in mind those that are outstanding in theater. With some exceptions, those schools offer a range of design and production majors. But you’re right, not all have double tech/SM majors. Many offer a Theater Arts or Theater Studies major, which may be a way of doing the same thing, but not always. At DePaul, for example, that major is really a directing major. At Ithaca, on the other hand, it is for SM majors, among others.</p>
<p>Some programs teach all of the D/P subjects to all of the D/P students for the first year or two, before they have to specialize, which may be a good idea. Your daughter may eventually decide on a single major. It’s been known to happen.</p>
