2380 sats; 780 & 800 satIIs; national merit semi;5 of each of 3 APs
3.61 gpa at nj magnet school (ap scholar, 2 IBs, 5APs, 60+% asian, i am caucasian)
decent ECs - model UN (many awards at Yale, Princeton, Georgetown conferences), debate, national honor society, part time job, religious youth group, tutor
Trying to ascertain which colleges like the high SATs. College list includes a couple of Ivies, and a bunch of New England LACs. Any suggestions?

Um…sorry to break it to you but high standardized test scores do NOT determine your acceptance. They are only 1/6 of what most universities look at. Although you have IBs, high scores and a low GPA only tells the college that you’re just a good test-taker.

I think you have chances till your essays are really outstanding

SAT tells much about your intelligence and SAT II about subject knowledge. Grades are measure of things like how many cakes have you baked for school’s events. If somebody has 600 on SAT II, it means he knows almost nothing, and in this situation could not be overshadowed by A.

BUT, there are some very sophisticated schools (Harvard, Yale), which wants perfect shining students, and therefore they’re much more interested in your GPA. But others (especially engineering - MIT, Columbia SEAS) will consider more your intelligence and initiative, they are usually not accepting swot’s.

Write great essays and don’t get discouraged by anything. It is always worth trying, because you can win soooo much. Good luck :)

One newer piece of info (not available for ED) is I finally buckled down and got 4 A’s and 2 A-'s (3.94) for Trimester I of Senior Year (don’t think this gets factored into GPA until year end). Do you think this makes any difference?
