<p>Which schools look @ grades GPA, SAT, and ACT but not so much EC?? VIRGINIA AND SURROUNDING STATES</p>
<p>First, the most important thing admissions committees look at is ALWAYS your grades, your curriculum, and then test scores. After that, it’s recommendations and essays, and then EC’s.</p>
<p>Second, think outside the box in terms of EC’s. In other words, don’t just think of EC’s in terms of “ASB President, sports star, theater” Think about ALL of the ways you spend your time when you are not in class or studying – do you work, read for pleasure, take care of family members, have a special hobby or interest? Those are ALL EC’s as well. They may not fit as neatly into the EC boxes, but colleges are not looking for specific EC’s, or even a certain number of EC’s - they’re looking for how people spend their time outside of the classroom and how they will add to the campus community.</p>
<p>It is highly likely that you have at least one thing you do outside of class that could interest a college — so don’t sell yourself short!</p>
<p>With that said, don’t worry about EC’s – worry about finding colleges that seem to fit you in terms of your grades, test scores and personality. Then, find ways to express your outside interests (hint: not just in essays, but also recommendations, different areas of the application, etc.)</p>
<p>You will find you have many more options than you think you do. You don’t have to have invented a cure for campus or been an olympic star to get into a good college. Best of luck!</p>
<p>I would say UVA if you have the right numbers. I got a likely letter from them (I was in-state) and they didn’t even see my E.C.'s or essays or recommendations. They only knew a preliminary PSAT and my GPA.</p>
