Does anyone have a list of schools that throw out freshman grades? I ask because without freshman year, I would have a 4.0 UW as opposed to a 3.7. I haven’t calculated Weighted yet, but they’d be higher as well. It would open up a lot of doors scholarship wise if I could find schools that do this. I’ve googled it, but I found conflicting answers. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I have an upward trend if they just recalculate GPA but don’t throw out the grades.
No school “throws out” Freshman year grades. Many do not use them for their GPA calculation. UC’s and Stanford come to mind. For the UC’s, Freshman grades are used to determine if you meet the a-g course requirements, so you still need passing grades for these classes (C or better) they are just not used to calculate your UC GPA.
At one time Priceton wouldn’t use freshman grades in the GPA. I’m not sure now.
For admission purposes at even them most selective schools, there is no difference between a 3.7 and a 4.0, especially when the lower grades are from freshman year. Find some other more relevant criteria for finding schools to apply to.
