Basically I want to know which schools I can get some merit aid from.

Some I was thinking about were:

uconn
rutgers
Boston University?
Ursinus
Muhlenberg
The College of New Jersey
Fordham?
University of Maryland College Park
University of Maryland Baltimore County
RPI
Lehigh
Bucknell
Lafayette
And any others

Its hard to say where you will get merit aid from. I would say not much at all from any competitive schools because (A) your SAT scores are very lacking other than math and (B) you are from Long Island, where there are a million other candidates which they would prefer.

Umm…it looks to me like you need to try the ACT before you throw in the towel. The math is more advanced, and there’s a science section, and the English and Reading aren’t as torturous as the CR on the SAT.

Muhlenberg is a good idea for you since they don’t care about your SATs as much as some other schools, but I’m not sure how much merit aid you’ll get.

I’d say that you have a good to decent shot at any of those schools. For the last few though, you may want to try again on the SAT or take the ACT.

And if you love math, you could always try UChicago. It might be a reach, but they’re well-known for math.

Other schools good for merit aid: Goucher, Tulane, and Depauw. The latter actually has a merit aid calculator on the site.

Bing, Stony Brook, Albany, etc. are great schools, and you’ll be in-state for them. Any reason in particular you don’t want them?

I would also add Rice, Harvey Mudd, and CMU to the list. I think you’re underestimating yourself a bit, and you really can’t tell where you’ll get merit aid until you apply.

Otherwise, your list looks good.

UChicago is a great school with a great math department, but, beyond the difficulty of getting merit aid, it has an extensive core curriculum that’s extremely reading and writing focused. If you like the idea of getting a serious academic education, it’s a great choice, but otherwise, I think it might not be your deal. PM me if you have more questions about Chicago.

anyone else? Thanks :)

As long as you show interest in BU, you should be in.

WashU is like the king of merit, and they are excellent in their research departments.

thanks!(10char)

I doubt you would get merit scholarships from lehigh, lafayette, or bucknell because of your reading and writing scores on the SAT. Chances are they will be looking for someone more well-rounded. I don’t really know enough about any of the other schools to determine if you would get merit aid.
I think your SAT scores (math), GPA, and math related EC’s are very impressive- I’m sure you will find a school to give you a nice merit package!

What about WPI, RIT, or as mentioned before a suny school?
