Which Schools Would Suit Me?

Some basic things I’m looking for in a school: Great/Rigorous Academics (very important), can be public or private, location doesn’t really matter, would like a nightlife scene (doesn’t have to be party central or downtown Las Vegas, but definitely not small town Nebraska lol), a good sports program (football, basketball, or hockey) is a plus but not a requirement, student population also isn’t an issue (would like more than 1000 students, however) would like a school that is very competitive but at the same time has a very mellow vibe. I am not sure of my major yet, but Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, History (With pre-law) are what I’m contemplating right now.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I also have a few schools in mind so don’t think that I have no idea what I am going to do with my life lol.

Also, Middle-class white male from Florida. If that helps at all :D

Some are reaches but… Vanderbilt, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, University of Wisconsin Madison, Norte Dame, Wake Forest, Boston College, and if you’re good with NESCAC schools, then Tufts and others (not sure which you would consider too “middle of nowhere” so google them). Also, I tried to name ones that have reasonably good financial aid reputations (although not sure about Wake Forest and some others lol).

Thanks for the input. I have actually been looking at all of these schools (except Wisconsin and UNC (as a lifelong Duke fan, that is against my code of honor :D)). And, honestly, location really isn’t that big of a concern (if Harvard was in rural Nebraska, I’d still go there lol) so thanks for the selection of advice!

Cornell and Northwestern

UMich

btw I’ve always been an ohio state fan and my parents are Texas A&M alums but I absolutely love UT-austin and UMich. I think they’re perfect matches for me and I’m probably not even going to apply to A&M or Ohio State. Just saying you should widen your horizons. You’d be surprised what you might find, especially with UNC since it’s such an amazing school in all aspects.

You left out the most important consideration–what’s your budget? Will you need financial or merit aid?

“You’d be surprised what you might find, especially with UNC since it’s such an amazing school in all aspects.”

UNC does not offer civil engineering. It really is not an engineering school.
