Which science majors have the fewest conservatives?

But this is all moot point anyway because the types of people you’ll meet will be determined more by where you are, than what you are studying anyway.

I actually think that this is a really good point. Maybe they just tend to attract the kind of person that is more likely to be conservative; certain science fields are more male-heavy, and males are more likely to be conservative, but just because they’re males in a certain major doesn’t necessarily make them have to be conservative (causation vs. correlation kinda thing).

I’m just laughing at your inept, ignorant psychoanalysis of a large group of people you don’t seem to understand very well. And then you complain that you get judged?

Since when does one’s political opinions say anything about how “open” they are? What’s this talk about conscientiousness? What if they simply have different values from you, a different take, what if they’ve studied the issue and simply don’t draw the conclusions that you do? What if they have your exact reasoning style but they began with different antecedents?

Is your contact with people who differ from you so limited that you can only understand them through broad stereotypes?

BTW, take a look at how homosexuals fared under communist countries for a look at how the far-left regards them. Who has the monopoly on judgment there?

[FuturePundit: Personality Plays Role In Political Orientation](http://www.futurepundit.com/archives/007241.html)

PS: Communist countries aren’t liberal by any means - just look at the rights they take away from everyone. They just advertise themselves as such.

hmmm . . . i wonder what political ideology veracity prescribes to . . .

Unfortunately, this statement is becoming more and more true.

^how is the above statement unfortunate?

Uh… because more and more people are dismissing scientific theories? I find that problematic.

So how is it sad that evolution is mainstream and uncontroversial. That means most people accept it as scientific fact.

What are you talking about? The statement suggested that only biologists followed evolution. I said that statement is becoming more true; i.e., fewer people are accepting the science for the alternative. That is unfortunate.

Maybe you aren’t understanding what I’m saying… More people believe in evolution today than ever before. That means we are moving in the right direction, which is a good thing.

I agree, but more people in the US are dismissing evolution than ever before. That’s problematic.

No, less people are dismissing it than ever before. Evolution has grown in popularity.

So you want to pick a science field that doesn’t have the same groupthink mindset as your groupthink mindset?

wow. i’m quite surprised no creationists have butted in. when i searched for ‘evolution’ in CC i found all sorts of creationist-infested threads…

Are creationists smart enough to use the internet?

Evolution is not real. The Almighty Jesus Jesus Jesus Christ is the Creator.

Engineers are more conservative because they make more money than scientists, on average. But both are socially liberal.

Gotta love it when you assume that other people assume certain things.
