I want to study in a field that’s better than the ones my relative have studied in:
Bachelor in Accounting / International Relations / 2nd Language
Exportations (I think) maybe Business
Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering
Medical Institute
Public Relations
Journalism / Mass Communication
I’m considering Science, like a good choice. What do you think beats all or most of these? May be in the same or different field. Maybe ASL for language or something else but idioms isn’t my worry. I want something useful and cool career!
How exactly does one define a field of study as “better” than another? Who cares what your family members studied?
My suggestions would be that you pick something based on your interests and skill sets. The ability to earn a living after graduation should be given consideration as well.
Wow. That takes “keeping up with the Joneses” to a new level.
How 'bout you find what fulfills you, invigorates you, interests you, gives you reason to get up in the morning with verve and enthusiasm and forget about “beating” your relatives in some imaginary game that only you are playing?
You all took it the wrong way. I don’t want to be better than them. I’m asking for different careers not so narrowed minded. Most people get a degree and don’t even use it, that may be my case also but I want something that may be useful. I put my relatives as examples only…
@michuniverse, If you’re undecided about what major to study, apply as undecided and use your gen ed requirements to explore different fields.
Okay, I see from one of your other threads that you’re 23 and undecided about majors. Are you a FL resident? Make sure when you do attend school that it’s a not-for-profit college – either a FL public university or community college or a private FL university (depending on what you can afford).
You mentioned thinking about being an actress, vet, programmer, surgeon, and pastry chef. Your interests are really all over the board, and that’s okay.
When you said you like science, are tech savvy, and good at creative arts, my first thought was computer science. You may not like the hardware/engineering, but you might like the software part of the business. Your comment about needing a specialized school for it concerns me. You don’t need a specialized school; your local community college is fine.
You don’t seem to know much about standardized testing or the college application process. Do you have anyone to help you? Can/will your parents help pay or are you on your own? @mom2collegekids and @jym626 are really good at helping students figure out a realistic game plan. Maybe they will stop by.
Yes Floridian. I’ll look into Computer Science.
I found Computer Engineering. How do those two compare?
What is the study of coding called in college/university?
