So I have a few questions about which standardized test scores I should send to the colleges i’m applying to:
- Which of these scores is better? My highest SAT score is a 1390 (superscore, E710, M680), and my highest ACT score is a 31 (composite, E35, M27, R30, S31).
- I took the writing on all of my tests, except for my most recent ACT (score of 31). My best writing score is a 10 on the ACT, but i'm afraid that the colleges will judge me based on my previous scores (english stayed the same and math was better by two points, but my reading was a 22 and my science was a 24). Is this something that I should be worried about?
- Although i'm happy with my test scores, some of the schools that I want to go to (Tulane specifically) have an average ACT of 32, which places me below average. At Tulane, for example, I would be in the bottom 25%. However, my gpa and extracurricular activities are great, and don't really reflect my test scores. Even though I know that Tulane looks at standardized tests less than many other schools, is it worth it to increase my test scores? I am signed up for the October SAT already, and was considering paying the fee to take a subject test instead. But I would only do this if my chances of admission at Tulane would benefit more from a good subject test score than it would from doing slightly better on the SAT.
Sorry for the long post, but thanks in advance!
