Which to Knock Off?

I’m only allowed to apply to about six schools (maybe seven) so I need help deciding which to cross off my list.

Definites:

USC
NYU
Emerson
UNCW

I’m wondering about Ithaca, Temple, Syracuse, and Chapman. I need to pick two of these four to add, thus eliminating the other two.

I intend to major in film production/studies, and I don’t have stellar credentials (1800 SAT, 26 ACT, 3.75 GPA, but lots of good ECs). Which of these schools would I most likely be able to get in/seem like a good fit for me? I really want to go to school in a city, so Ithaca and Syracuse are making me question. However, I’ve heard relatively negative things about Temple (they’re giving me a free application and I have a few friends who go there).

While we’re at it, how likely are my chances at Emerson and UNCW? I know they aren’t good for NYU and USC but I want to apply anyway.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Chapman is not in a “city”, but Orange is a charming town and a nice place to be. Technically, I would call it part of the urban sprawl that stretches unbroken from north of Los Angeles to the Mexican border. While there is plenty to do in the LA area, it is not a city in the same sense as New York or Boston or Chicago. It’s about 35 miles from LA to Orange.

Why can’t you apply to more schools? If the reason involves financial issues, NYU should not be on your list. Is UNCW a total safety?
