Which Top College did You Turn Down???

I turned down NYU/CAP21 for Baldwin-Wallace. Tough choice but I think I made the right choice for me. I bought a NYU shirt to wear proudly though.

do people who got into university of chicago/northwestern/U penn/UCLA/ UCB/ anything else, mind putting down thier stats? just to help those of us who are amazed and want help! thanks!

Only applied to Rice.

I guess I turned down applying to any Ivies and Northwestern/Stanford.

kyle, my sister-in-law went to Baldy Waldy & loved it! I understand about the NYU shirt … my D turned down Tufts & Vanderbilt for Furman … she wears the Vandy shirt a lot … it’s the only school she applied to that anyone around here has even heard of!!

Kelsmom- very cool. HOpe your daughter loves Furman. The ‘co-saludatorians’ at my school (who are actually dating) are both going there. Great school & pretty campus. If Furman had my major (musical theatre) it would have been my top in-state choice. Best of luck to your D!

I turned down Northwestern for Wisconsin.

I turned down Elon University for NCSU.

Friend turned down UVA, US air force academy, and William and Mary for Virginia Tech because he wants to go into the military without sacrificing his college experience. (also an engineering major)

Yale, Cornell, Penn, Swarthmore

D turned down CMU, UMichigan and UCinti College Conservatory Music for PSU. Awesome scholarhip from PSU

Turned down scholarships from UCLA, Wisconsin, and UMich (among others), and non-scholarships from UCB, Rice, WashU, Penn, and USC for Honors College and Chancellor’s Scholarship at Pitt.

hey what kind of stats do you need for regents scholarships at the UCs

The criteria changes from year to year depending on the applicants. They invite around 800 students to compete for 100 Regents Scholarships every year. I had a 4.0 UW GPA, 2360 SAT, and ranked 2/400 in a very competative school. My ECs weren’t that great, which is probably why I couldn’t get into HYPS. I have around 350 hours of volunteer work, was class and NHS president, and was involved in a couple other school organizations, but that’s about it. Hope that helps.

One of my friends turned down stanford for UCLA, the cost

so far… Cornell university (cost)

revived this thread, i think this is an interesting thread

Friend turned down Harvard, Yale, and Stanford for Cal Poly because her friends went there.
