Which track is better for admission?

Hi everyone! This is my first post on CC, though I have been browsing for 2 years. I just finished sophomore year and am going to be a junior. I’m worrying over my course load.

Should I take AP US History if I am completely certain that I’m going into science career-wise? It’s a hard course at my school (20% get A’s). Although I’m a straight-A student with tough courses, I’m taking a tough range of classes, which raises concern, since I’m also involved in several EC’s (no sports).

Honors Physics
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC
AP Lit (I think it’ll be easy)
Honors Spanish 4 (considered easy)

I feel capable of doing well in these other courses, but history doesn’t interest me. I’m aiming for straight A’s, although a B or two over the next year is acceptable. Should I drop to Honors USH or keep APUSH? Which option will help me to attain admission to a school like U of C or Northwestern (or does it even matter)? Also, is my course load on a NW or U of C trajectory?

Please give an opinion. Thanks for reading.

If you don’t want to take APUSH and doubt that you’ll do well in APUSH, don’t take it. The difference between three and four AP courses is hardly significant, especially if you are heavily involved in ECs and do well in your other courses.

drop to honors ush… AP is no use and 3 or 4 ap’s don’t matter in difference. GPA is most important.
