Student is in state to California and interested in pre-med specially neuroscience

UCR and UCSC for neuroscience
UCSB for physiology
SDSU for psychology
UCI for psychology
Waitlisted at
UCD and UCSD for human biology
Student is leaning towards UCSC since we live 2.5 hrs and the major is neuroscience which will be good for pre-med. If student comes out of waitlist then UCD is first choice and UCSD is second choice
Just wanted insight/feedback over UCSC in general
Be aware of the difficulty getting off-campus housing in Santa Cruz.
Or UCR with an early assurance program - perhaps that’s the best choice of all UCs?

UCR does prefer medical students who have ties to inland southern California and want to practice medicine there. If the student meets that description, UCR and its early assurance program can be an attractive choice.
Have you visited campus? If you go to their open house, check out their pre-health advising. Some schools are significantly better in that respect.
