How many IMOers, on average, does each of these schools accept every year?

Apparently about 10 IMOers are currently in the first year at Trinity College, part of Cambridge University, including 5 from outside of the UK. I’ve no idea for the figure for Cambridge as a whole, or for the other two schools.

Also which countries do IMO contestants tend to come from, who go to these three schools? (Other than the respective home countries, that is).

i dont think such data exists…plus why do you care. aren’t looking for the best math program… if you think your IMO would get you into the door LOL you must have great overall grades and activities.

i guess the easiest for you out of the three is cambridge.

Hi Sam, yes, China/Russia/US/Korea/Iran consistently outperform the UK by a long way. I know where the UK guys go - about 5 out of the 6 each year go to Cambridge, of whom about 3 go to Trinity College. I’m especially interested in which institutions tend to attract IMOers from outside of the home country. Whether that’s Princeton or MIT attracting non-US contestants, or Cambridge attracting non-UK contestants, or an institution in some other country.

I’d love to know where gold medallists tend to go when they go to institutions abroad, but thought I’d ask the more general and easier questions first! :)

If you look the Putnam results, you will see. Most of them I believe went to MIT. Especially those from China, MIT just imported them (MIC – Made in China) directly. Last year, one from China went to Yale.
