Which Way Should I Head?

I want to major in biology at UC Santa Barbara, but I don’t want to head into a field that involves exploiting/experimenting on live animals or killing animals for research. I know that the biological field has really become a grounds for this type of activity, but I am trying to avoid it when the time comes from me to choose an occupation…any advice on how to enter the biological field without crossing this particular moral boundary (of mine)? Thanks.

Be A Dentist!!! Good Money Involved!!

i’m not necessarily looking for top-dollar, but i don’t wanna live in a shack either. i dunno, dentistry’s really not my thing.

Question: What do you call someone who failed med school?

Answer: A dentist.

lol, j/k! This is from Seinfeld and it was a heck of a lot funnier on the show.

As for killing animals for research, well…maybe you can practice on cadavers? I have no idea…

Well you can be a BIO teacher. There are so many different things you can do in biology. Some are pretty interesting.

it’s not about practicing on cadavers or animals…i’m talking about the bioengineering that is going on these days where biologists discover newer and more gruesome ways to exploit animals for humans’ sake. now, without starting a debate, let me say that my moral beliefs obligate me to place animals on par with humans as valuable life. therefore, i would feel extremely uncomfortable in even indirectly taking part in experimental animal research etc… but tor, i think you misunderstood me. i’m not looking to be a teacher or dentist. i mean, outside of the obvious (med school), what other places could i head that would allow me to pursue and add to the biological sciences.
