i would go with the top choice too, but i know some people who wouldnt go to the top choice because their parents can’t afford to let them (i wonder why they applied then lol)

at the end of the day, if you can afford to go to either, go to the one that you’ll be happiest at. if you cannot afford to go to your top-choice school, you don’t feel you’ll be happy at your safety school and you are DYING to go to your top choice school, you’ll find a way to make your dream come true.

I would say the top-choice, but money has never been in short supply in my family. If i were from a low income family, i would definetly choose the saftey as long as they had an honors program of some sort

I’d choose the safety school. If you do things right, you should be like the safety (since you did apply there), though it would be tough to turn down an acceptance from my dream school.

sadly, w/o aid, I won’t be able to attend my dream school, so I very well may end up at my safety.

It also depends on family circumstances. If family makes ~150k (approximate cutoff for no aid), then probably safety. If family earns a million a year, 30k doesn’t make a big difference.

If I were to make the choice, I’ll probably choose the safety, assuming it’s a decent safety and I won’t be miserable.

Yea, It really does depend on ur financial status. In my case and people in my financial status, would probably answer: “id go to my top choice”. However, in other cases of people who’s families earn low incomes, would probably not answer otherwise and take the 30 K scholarship.

If it’s Illinois or Case Western that you are choosing between, and one of your elite schools, then DEFINITELY go to UIUC or CWRU. Both are excellent instiutions and aren’t safety schools by any means. It won’t hurt you to go to either of the schools, heck, aren’t both ranked in the top 45?
