I was told that the white ball on top of the green building is one of the first radar domes to transmit radio waves. Can MIT students confirm this?

My husband (MIT '07) says that the ball on top of the Green Building is a relatively recent Doppler dome, and that since the Green Building itself was built in the '60s, he doesn’t think it’s likely to be one of the first radar domes to transmit radio waves.

He’s actually been inside the dome – his research group flew helicopters from the top of the building. :)

thnks for the info! =)
