White Elephant Gift Ideas

Price range under $15. At work, so not too racy. Group is mixed age and gender, mostly IT people. I’ve downsized and decluttered a lot, so don’t really have anything laying around.

On another thread, someone suggested a six pack… of LED bulbs. Apprently, it was a hit gift.

A very long charging cord and a power adapter with multiple USB ports for sharing an airport outlet?

Umbrella.

Ice scraper for the car (climate dependent).
Board game/cards.
Box of candy like Frango mints

Maybe a small organizer like this https://www.amazon.com/ProCase-Organizer-Universal-Electronic-Accessories/dp/B07C7VPSSR/ref=pd_sbs_147_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07C7VPSSR&pd_rd_r=b3bb667f-f34b-11e8-8068-c76aa33ad5df&pd_rd_w=UA6JL&pd_rd_wg=2pSG9&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=7d5d9c3c-5e01-44ac-97fd-261afd40b865&pf_rd_r=93W041NWX56P6Q3C5H00&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=93W041NWX56P6Q3C5H00

Gourmet chocolates are always a hit!

Adult coloring book and pencils.

Edit: I love the idea of LED bulbs @BunsenBurner !

All of the travel size soaps, lotions and shampoos you’ve collected for a year!

@threebeans You just gave me an idea! I have tons of travel size toiletries and think I’ll use some as stocking stuffers since my kids will all be traveling this winter!

If you want to do something not useful but funny my friend gave me this idea one year. She got one of the huge boxes of goldfish and emptied it out. She put a beta fish tank inside and had a beta fish hidden but not in the wrapped package. I copied her at DH’s work party (they always have mix of funny and useful stuff) and people loved it! They actually ended up fighting over who got the fish.

A real fish? Hmm…

One year I picked Pistachios for a crazy gift exchange and it was a big hit. It was swapped every time it could be swapped up until it hit its limit.

Wine. You can get a fine bottle for that price.

I actually got a “white elephant” once…it kept going round and round for years in Sunday school.

Yep, a real fish! I was afraid I might end up having to take it home but luckily lots of people wanted it.

Pretty sure I got one like this because this plus the fish was under the $20 limit. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/fish/betta-fish-shop/betta-fish-tanks/penn-plax-spongebob-squarepants-betta-aquarium-kit-05-gallon

The fish is a great idea! My daughter attended a bday party around the age of 12, and the goodie bag gift for attendees was a goldfish. The mom had put a bunch of goldfish in a large tank and each girl fished one out to take home (in a baggie of water). That fish lived a long time, my D loved it!

I’ll think about the fish… but I usually take the bus to work. So I see that as a bit of a logistical challenge. Open to other ideas.

There’s a Yeti “lowball” which retails for $20. But, with all the holiday sales, I think you could get it at your budget price.

Haha - ok, another friend just put in a framed picture of her own family. :)) But the real winners are usually the bottles of liquor.

Since it is a work event, I think I’ll skip the liquor. But it would be a good idea with friends

These were BIG hits at our office White Elephant

Hmm, maybe one of those little arcade games. I am going to Penzy’s for some other holiday shopping this weekend, I might look for something there (maybe a jar of mulling spices? I love mulling cider, and I think some people might want to try it with wine).
