White House and Cheney's office subpoened in wiretapping probe?

I saw a breaking news headline that the White House and Cheney’s office were subpoened in a wiretapping probe but can’t seem to get a story with the headlilne anywhere. This must have just happened? So, what will the nickname be this time…we had Watergate…now?.._______gate.

PS, I can’t believe that I started a political thread and will likely regret it but am curious about the news in any case.

OK, when I first posted, I could only find one news organization with the headline but no story but now the story is out on all news sites, it seems. The subpoena was signed by the great (in my opinion) chairman of the Judiciary Comm in the Senate, Patrick Leahy, of Vermont.

From what I have read, and heard on TV/Radio, I think the questions being asked deserve to be ansered by those in the White House who are our “employees”. I worked on the Hill during the summer of '74-the Watergate era–IMO the manner in which our current Executive Branch is handling business is even more grevious than the Nixon administration. We deserve to know the truth-and if mistakes or error in judgement-have been made-then there should be consequences for those actions. As people who belong to a democratic nation, we must actively ask and seek the answers-not just point fingers.

Was there a run on shredders at Staples? Lot’s of BBQ smoke coming from the backyard at the wH?

Cheney’s a vet at this stuff, by the time it gets going, you’d never think he spent a day as vp. Or he’ll just tell leathy to f himslef and the focus will switch to could Leahty actually perform that request…

I guess I’m a bit of a skeptic at this point…

With good reason.

I’m waiting to see if Cheney claims executive privilege now, after denying that he was part of the executive branch… ;)
