White House Internship

there will be a panel of like 6 people interviewing me, via phone, tomorrow.

I also received the APE-m, today that stated that notifications will begin next week on a rolling basis. If I may extend advice to all hopeful applicants: I have read this entire thread from the first post… What I have learnt is - Be PATIENT and don’t assume nor lose faith!!! One common factor throughout the thread, regarding the ENTIRE process is that you simply don’t and won’t know until you are contacted!!! The process was variable from term to term. Thus in short: Expect the unexpected, sit back and buckle-up kiddies this is about to be a wild ride.

In closing: GODSPEED & GOOD LUCK… Remember you are already among the elite because YOU take initiative to be amongst leaders!!! Whooo hooo Get’er done - WHI Spring 2012!!!

just finished my phone interview. i think i did pretty well… i forgot the name of one of the initiatives that the First and Second Ladies are working on… and of course they asked me for the name of the initiative… gah!!! i was reading about it right before the interview too.

other than that, the interview went extremely well. They said we should hear something in like 3 or 4 days :).

Has anybody else had an interview yet?? Does anyone else have one scheduled? I dont like the fact that I am the only one that has had one :/

I’m glad your interview went well! As far as interviews, I have not been contacted by any departments. The only contacts I have received are the vitals email and the application in process email. I guess we will just have to wait and see! Did I mention I don’t like this whole waiting thing?!

@christinamarie3 I hear you

After looking at some of the posts in this thread, it looks like there is a higher volume of applicants in the summer than the fall and spring. I’m presuming the summer is when everyone is out of school and looking for internships, rather than the fall and spring when individuals are more focused on their studies, and might not be able to make it out to D.C. So that might be a light of hope for some of us. In any event whether we get accepted or not, it takes a lot of courage to go through this nerve racking process.

best of luck to both of you! hope to see you in DC this January!!! :D

Ahh…I’m not sure if I feel better or worse having stumbled upon this thread. I’ve done a very good job of not allowing myself to think about the application/selection process at all until today.

I have a phone interview tomorrow and the nerves have started to hit me. Good luck everyone and hopefully some of us will be meeting in the “spring?” (Maybe winter is the better word?)

No news for me. Good luck on interviews and results.

Just a question about interviews- is it typical for candidates to receive more than one phone interview request from different departments? Or if one single department contacts you, then that is the only chance of obtaining an internship?

So far, I have received just one call, but the caller did not specify a department. Based on some of the submissions to this thread, I think at times it’s just the Internship Program that makes the calls and not a specific department, but I’m new to this…

Is it possible to be selected if I received a vitals email, but did not receive a call about an interview?? Good luck to everyone!

From the previous post: It is posssible and beneficial to receive more than one interview (keep in mind though, the decision is still out on a limb). Also, from what I gathered the calls come from the intern committee and the decisions and all that it entails, are from the departments.

My call came from the Office of the First Lady… which would be amazing. I am in Pre-Med now, and plan on heading to Med School to study Pediatrics in a year. Being able to work on her childhood obesity project, would be amazing!

What departments are the rest of you being interviwed for?

Three more days… Im a nervous wreck.

judging from what i’ve read in past posts, it doesn’t look like any of the classes have actually heard anything on the date listed on the WH time line for notifications… seems like they’re always running late, even for the 1st round of notifications. can anyone who’s looked more thoroughly than I have confirm/deny this?

that does seem to be the norm… but during my interview, Jeanette said the Internship Office would definitely start sending emails out on Monday. So, we shall see.

White House Email about Vitals- October 17th
Emailed vitals = October 18th
Application Still in Progress Email = October 19th

So excited. Can’t wait til next week. Good luck everyone on your interviews. Keep us posted. :)

I had my interview on Friday with a member of a specified department. I think it went okay. At its conclusion, the department member said that final decisions would be emailed through the internship program office. I’ve got my fingers crossed for everyone…good luck in interviews and hopefully we’ll all hear good news next week!

Take care everyone and happy weekend!

I have a question–what is the “vitals” email everyone is talking about? I’ve only received one email from them recently, which was the “Application processing” notification. Thank you!

the vitals email had a pdf doc, and just asked us to confirm our name, address, social, and stuff. most of us that did recieve it, got it early this week (monday-ish).
