Has anyone heard anything?

I got my departmental review forms the other day.

If you don’t mind me asking, about how long ago @jmr2010?

Wed I think

Thanks!

@jmr2010 what department was that with?

Presidential Personnel

I also recently got departmental review forms

Had a couple of interviews; no departmental review forms yet. Beginning to think I’m sunk.

are you supposed to type or handwrite the forms?

I typed everything except for the ssn at the bottom of the forms

the sf-86 is soooo long!

Did anyone else get DR/SF86 forms without an interview? Looking through it looks like everyone else got an interview first?

@kimsilvia I also got departmental review forms without an interview. On the FBI Consent form, we don’t need to check any of the boxes, right?

@lizziebjohnson I think I just signed it but I can’t remember since it isn’t in front of me. After the loooooong SF86, who can remember anything?

I’m a former intern and one tip to those applying is to look into internships like White House Council on Environmental Quality. Their internship program is still prestigious but because it is separate from the White House Internship program they get far fewer applications and so it’s more realistic to get accepted there. http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ceq/internships/ceq-internships

If I’m a freshman in college with outstanding references/connections and prior government experience, do I stand a chance?

Does anything think we will start to hear anything soon?

Today is supposed to start the notifications. Has anyone heard anything? I know once you are accepted you can’t really give out info but a simple “yes” would help the rest of us nervous nellies out so we know things are starting to happen!

Hey all. I’m a former WH intern. Additionally, a close friend of mine is currently going through the application process. Therefore, I feel pretty unconstrained in giving some insight.

First, while the official notifications are supposed to start now, that date is almost meaningless. People have already been contacted. And people will continue to be contacted for months. The program is frustratingly opaque about this. So while I totally understand how anxious you can get while waiting to hear, it could be anytime between now and January.

Second, I know that some conditional offers have gone out. This means that the applicant has been told by their office that they have the internship, but they had to wait until the official start date and clearance of the security forms to make it official. The conditional acceptance I know of is in the Office of Counsel. I’d love to know if anybody has heard from the First Lady’s office.

Third, for all those who have gotten Departmental Review Forms, it is equally opaque. I have heard of people receiving them before interviews, after interviews, and without any interviews at all. Generally, they serve two purposes: 1) commencing security clearance for accepted interns, and 2) providing security clearances for applicants who don’t currently have spots but may be called as alternates in the last minute if (and when) others drop out.

Hopefully this information will be useful. I completely sympathize with you guys about how painful the waiting process is. But I’m sure you’ve got a great shot, so keep that hope alive!
