White House Internship

I received them about a week and a half ago, and had my interview a few weeks before that.

I’m going to go sick with nerves. I just want to know, as even with the interview (with an office I didn’t even put in my Top 5…how am I supposed to feel about that? O.o) and the paper work nothing is guaranteed…I’d just like to know. That’s all.

Can someone tell me what an AEP form is? And maybe when it is received?

I’m just guessing here but… I think AEP forms are a basic outline of the department you might be working for. Last time people got them 7 days after the start of the notification date. So, that would be next Monday. This is total speculation and only a “best guess”.

@wolfgang1025 and was this after the individuals’ interview and/or DR form?

I couldn’t tell you. I got this information from past posts so I don’t know if those individuals that got AEP forms got them before or after DR forms/interviews.

You can read about it on page 357. Oct 20th was the start of the notification date for this spring. About one week after the 20th people started to get AEP forms and the forum went quite. I know that you are not able to talk about the internship once accepted so… that is my guess as to why the forum goes blank. If might help some of you guys to read over that time line b/c I feel it could be the same for our timeline. Hope this helps!

If there’s supposed to be any correspondence (e.g. interview, DR, AEP, etc.) will it also appear on the Avue Digital Services portal just in case we accidentally delete an email?

Is that the portal where you applied at? If so then I haven’t seen anything there.

@wolfgang1025 yeah that’s what I’m referring to. I don’t know for sure as I haven’t seen any correspondence, but I called the WH internship program and they said that interviews/etc. are supposed to appear in the inbox section.

I haven’t received anything in the portal, all communication has gone to my gmail.

same as ingelasr. Nothing in the portal.

At this point, if I have not received anything about an interview, DR, etc…, is there any hope? It seems that most people that have posted and are worried about not getting a position have at least been interviewed. I haven’t gotten as much as an e-mail since I applied nearly two months ago other than the confirmation e-mail informing me that they had received my application.

@fc1995‌ There is still time. I don’t think anyone knows for certain (which obviously is frustrating). I received DR forms no interview. Expecting rejection or waitlist.

Im with @giansinthesky. It’s not over until it’s over. It’s all very dependent on the department. Happy thoughts!

@fc1995 I’m in the same situation and I called the White House to make sure there’s at least an ounce of hope left. No final notifications have been sent out yet and they said that sometimes people can receive interviews as much as a month after the initial March 9 deadline. They said that they technically have up till the time the internship actually starts (May? I think i remember). Like the others have said, we shouldn’t sweat it. Many people get accepted long after the deadline, some finishing their interviews and forms just a week before the internship start date.

Well, that makes me nervous as well…I’ve applied to other internships as well. What am I supposed to do If I get an offer elsewhere and still have heard nothing from the White House? If I accepted another position, and then got an offer from the White House I’d feel awful.

If the WH internship is your top choice and you don’t really plan on reapplying to that internship you’re getting in the future then you can push to cancel that internship you are accepted to and go with the WH one @ingelasr. One of my friends was accepted at both an REU internship in Costa Rica and a Fulbright proram. When she canceled the REU, they were pretty pissed, but if you really want the WH internship, then it may be possible if you push to cancel your other program.

@screen8888 you mean leaving the other internship if you’ve it’s already started before you receive notification from the WH?

@ingelasr‌ In the same boat as you - supposed to decide on another offer by 5 pm tomorrow. This is toooorture.

@silentsailor‌ do you mind if I ask which that is? Because I’m waiting to hear on another as well, and haven’t yet, which I know others have… and it’s only increasing my anxiety level when I got accepted to it last year, but didn’t have the financial wherewithal to do it.
