White House Internship

Thank you! And unfortunately, it specified in the email not to post that information to any websites/blogs/social media, or else I would have!!

The week of reckoning is upon us… Good luck to everyone who receive their decisions! [-O<

Congratulations!! @seae24 : )

I completely understand that you are not allowed to discuss any details but can I ask you a quick question. Did you receive the sf-86 form with your DR forms? If you do not want to answer that, I understand!!

@anadanahs14, I did receive that form, yes. and thank you! Did you?

@seae24 , you’re welcome! I didn’t, I received like two really short forms about 2 months ago but not the sf-86 so I’m freaking out a little bit

hey congrats @seae24 ! i know about how you can’t say anything with regards to what office etc but what date did you submit your sf86? just curious so maybe i could have a better idea of a time line!

Out of curiosity, how likely would it be get the internship if you have no experience in politics? I just read an article from two years ago stating the internship favors people who have a background in political campaigns/legislative offices more than anything.

I have a lot of experience from various internships and jobs, but nothing that specifically involves politics.

I’m pretty much convinced I’m not getting this internship, and this wait is just the cherry on top!

@hamburger5 I would’nt be too hard on yourself. According to the WHIP website on the selection process, the three criteria are based on an applicant’s commitment to public service, demonstration of leadership in the community and a commitment to the mission of the Obama Administration. Honestly if you exemplify those and are passionate about pubic service I’m sure you’ll do fine. I’ve never worked on a political campaign nor a legislative office, but I’m not too worried.

I’m just cynical about this though.

@ERNENR1 ahh my concerns exactly! Personally I don’t mind it being unpaid and this is coming from a person who is not at all financially well off (and I have no idea how I’ll afford to live in DC for 4 months), but I do think it is a little unfair, if true, that some people can manage to obtain such a prestigious internship because of their connections. I understand it being unpaid, since it’s the White House and your experience working there will follow you forever, and to me that’s far better than receiving a paycheck. But like I said, if it’s only limited to some people…then that sucks for us normal people.

thank you! @brokie02359 i submitted it 2 weeks into June

@seae24 Thanks for giving us your insight seae24. Your insight is very valuable information for us waiting in “Limbo”… Quick question though. Is your offer definite or conditional on the sf-86? Thanks.

So someone has been accepted already, congrats!!

Does anyone know if we get a response whether or not we get accepted? In other words, do they send out rejection notices? I’m just trying to figure out whether I should take this deafening silence as a clue or if I should wait for the official, “Thank you for your interest, BUT…” e-mail.

@ashro12134 I’m pretty sure we will get responses either way. Older posts here show that some people got rejection emails

@ERNENR1 of course! the documentation and processing of those forms is complete in my understanding and according to my email

This is nerve wrecking! Did anyone hear anything back yet?

has anyone heard as of today!?!

I havent heard anything yet! :frowning:
Does anyone know if the notifications only come out on Fridays? I feel like I check my e-mail way too often throughout the week. It’s a little obsessive lol

anyone else just receive an email from the ONDCP.eop.gov? i don’t know why i would have received it unless they added all applicants… @ashro12134 @seae24 etc

@brokie02359 what did the email say?

I’m curious as well. I didn’t receive any emails from there or from any other white house account since turning in my forms.
