White kitchen. Wall color?

I have Benjamin Moore “Beach Glass” in my sun porch which has lots of light and a med dark wood floor - love it! Fresh and not too bright.

@mominva I agree-I wouldn’t use that backsplash behind the stove because I tend to be a very messy cook-I’d use a coordinating marble in a flat design.

But the rest of the kitchen should be fine unless you’re flinging food everywhere :). Plus it has NO grout lines, and I despise grout with a passion.

I should add that I’m a neatfreak-germaphobe, so I tend to clean my kitchen a lot, anyway. I’m averse to the idea of anything that “hides” dirt. I don’t want to hide it, I want to get rid of it!

@lefthandofdog if the fridge is white I’d go with white for the other appliances, not black.

My contractors find that the glass tile is hard to install. It does look cool though.

I’d stick with white if your fridge is white. Black appliances in a mostly white kitchen really pull focus from the things in the kitchen that are beautiful.

Thanks! The ayes have it. We keep things until they break and should always be able to replace white with white.

So many great paint suggestions! I fell in love with that tile for the backsplash so I’m going to find something with less going on for the countertop. I’m looking at undermount sinks. My current is 50/50 so I’m trying to decide between one big one or one with a small side sink. Suggestions?

I’d probably paint the yellow room a more neutral color. That way I could paint the kitchen any darned color I wanted and not have to worry that it “goes” with an adjacent room. But I got really sick of a yellow room once, so I’m probably biased.

I adore my one big basin undermount stainless steel sink. I can wash everything in there. I’ll never go back to divided sinks again.

I have a divided sink but both sections are extra deep and big. I honestly can’t imagine having just one big sink. If I’m in the midst of cooking up a storm, I’ll often have dirty stuff in one sink and I can use the other side for food prep, draining, rinsing, etc. Or something can be soaking on one side while I’m washing dishes on the other. I’d find one big basin too limiting for the way I cook and use my kitchen. I do cook a lot.

I debated getting a large single basin sink in the house we’re remodeling because I’ll have a separate prep sink. But I love my current split basin sink so I made the same choice again. I like the flexibility. As @doschicos mentioned, you can use one side for soaking or stacking dishes, while leaving the other side open for prep or general use.

I have an unusually large heavy duty stainless sink from the Elkay Goumet line, with one big deep rectangle and one smaller one. (Not an undermount.) But the smaller one is still deep and far from tiny. I needed this to get a licensed kitchen, it’s overkill for most people, but I love it. A very flexible arrangement, much more so than a single sink. I wouldn’t go for one of those midget prep sinks on the side, though. It has to be big enough to be useful.

One thing I really like about my sink is that it includes a hand soap dispenser. So great not to have to deal with soap sitting around and so convenient!

I did the single big under mount sink. I love being able to deal with large items with ease. I also added the soap dispenser and also added an instahot. I LOVE my instahot! So nice to have hot water for tea, etc right away.

@Singersmom07 I definitely want to do an instahot in the next kitchen-I’m forever boiling water for tea.

I’m not a dish soaker-I rinse and put them right in the dishwasher because I don’t like seeing dirty dishes. I may be slightly Felix Unger, I admit it. I do cook a lot, and I tend to make a big mess when I cook, but I try and clean as I go or I feel overwhelmed.

I tend to forget to take meat/seafood out of the freezer in time to defrost so my second sink is often used for thawing food. I put regular dishes directly in the dishwasher, but will toss pots/pans in the sink in the midst of food preparation.

@Consolation - I agree the soap dispenser is a great addition.

Get the small side sink. It will give you so much more flexibility than a single large sink, for example, you can drain pasta while the bigger side is being used for something else.

Sherwin Williams Sea Salt is a favorite of mine, and I have used it in multiple houses. Beach Glass is nice too, but darker. I also like Silver Lagoon.

^^I love Sea Salt and Beach Glass as well. I have them pinned in my secret “Beach Dream Home” pinterest board

I love beach glass but am not brave enough to use it in a room as large as a kitchen. Having said that, my kitchen has very little wall space. I just used it this year in my mudroom and I LOVE it!

I just painted a laundry room in Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. It is so calming! Looks great with both white and dark trims.

I just redid my kitchen and I love my backsplash. It’s subway tiles of a color very similar to the 5th tile from the bottom in your sample. Kind of a green-gray. I The grout is kind of pewter. I get a lot of compliments on it.

I’m going to see if I can add the Houzz picture that was my inspiration…

My tiles are a little more green/blue than the pic, but the picture is what inspired me. I personally like a solid color because it is restful on my eyes.

Like this picture, my island is a different - complementary - color than the rest of the cabinets, which are white.
