White male chances RD?

I really liked Brown’s engineering program and unorthodox “focus” system. What are my chances for RD?

Volunteering: Over 150 hours documented
Essay: I liked it, a little esoteric but clever in my opinion
Recs: Good

Thanks for your time

Esoteric, lol. I think your chances look pretty good. Your scores, GPA, rank, etc. are all good for Brown. However! They are known to care much less about SATs and such compared to their Ivy counterparts…so work on those essays!

Warning: There’s no “formula” for Brown… which is why all these “chances” are often no better than a hazarded guess.

Your stats are very good… but the question the admission officers will ask themselves is:

Who is this person? What do they care about? What drives them? What will they get out of Brown? and, most importantly, if they go to Brown, what will they accomplish after they leave?

It’s obvious that you are driven, youve done well in school… but when your essays and recs tell the admission officers WHY you are driven, THEN you will be accepted no-question into the class of 2010.

I’m really psyched that youre considering brown, and id love to meet you if/when you get in, and offer to help on anything you need.

I too want to know what drives someeone like you.

BTW, those book/Junior awards are important. I know that mine helped me get in (i talked to the admissions officer for my area- but then again my school created a special one for me). Still they are important because they show that not only do you excel in school, but your school is proud of you as well. The ivies look for leaders, not just “smart kids.”

“Smart kids” go to MIT or Caltech.

(no offense to anyone at either of these great institutions…)

haha, congrats on ur 2k erg time, thats impressive.

u sound like u are very solid academically, and in crew, u have a really good 2k. (i row and am looking to be recruited in the ivies)

academically u are a good candidate, but if u go to crash-b’s or something and contact the coaches and athletic department, u have a good chance of being recruited…my friend, my school’s boys crew coach was recruited at brown for crew, she is amazing, and since u row i thought u might be interested to see her achievements…when i saw them i pretty much passed out.

basically shes pretty much amazing.

given ur crew standings and ur academics id give u a good shot, ESPECIALLY if u look to be recruited. as far as other ECs go, idk…
